Queen Recognizes Queen: Nicki Minaj Shows Love to Taylor Swift’s New Album Life of a Showgirl — Calls Taylor a “Battle Rapper”

Turns out, even the Queen of Rap is a little bit of a Swiftie! Nicki Minaj gave major props to Taylor Swift’s new album Life of a Showgirl, which dropped Friday (Oct. 3) and moved an insane 2.7 million copies on day one.
While critics and fans were split on the project, Nicki hit X (formerly Twitter) to defend Taylor’s pen game — saying her songwriting is “going over people’s heads.”
Nicki singled out a few of her favorite tracks, including “Eldest Daughter”, praising Taylor for her intentional lyrics that “resonate with the authentic lone wolves.” She also showed love to the album’s title track, featuring Sabrina Carpenter, saying Sabrina “came in fully in character” and that she “gets it.”
“Let’s go, Taylor!!!” Nicki posted — because even a rap queen recognizes another artist’s hustle.
Nicki also hyped up “Actually Romantic,” a track rumored to throw shade at Charli XCX. Taylor reportedly sings, “I heard you called me boring Barbie / when the Coke’s got your brain.” Nicki dubbed Taylor a “battle rapper” and encouraged her to “go in for the kill.”
She later added, “Why all the SAGs giving out lashings tonight? Oh wow. And #Cancelled is diabolical… Let’s go TAYLOR!!!!!!”
It’s not the first time Nicki’s shown love to Swift. Back in December, she tweeted that she’d collab with Taylor “in a heartbeat,” calling her a “Sagittarius queen” who “takes years off, then comes back with great music and loyal fans.”
