Cardi B is getting real about heartbreak, healing, and finally letting go.
During her recent appearance on On Purpose with Jay Shetty, which dropped Monday (Oct. 6), the Bronx superstar opened up about the emotional moment she knew her marriage to Offset had officially come to an end.
“I felt the love dying,” Cardi admitted. “From my end, from his end… I was very lonely because I chose to be lonely.”

The Grammy-winning rapper revealed that during the breakdown of her relationship, she battled depression and exhaustion while trying to balance fame, family, and emotional pain.
“I was saying, ‘You know what? I can’t go through this anymore. I have to put a stop to it,’” she told Shetty. “But when I said I was going to put a stop to it — it’s not when you say so. It’s when your heart says so.”
She continued,
“I kept telling myself, ‘I would not contact this person. I would not give in. I would not forgive this easy.’ But I was crying every day. I was hurt every day. I was thinking about it every single day. But when your heart is not done, your heart is not done.”
“I Got Stronger”
Cardi also shared that after getting pregnant with her third child, Blossom, she tried to work on her own flaws within the marriage. But, according to her, Offset “took advantage” of her efforts to hold herself accountable.
That was the turning point.
Once she realized it was truly over, Cardi said she began to heal and find her strength again.
“When I finally got over him, I felt so strong,” she said.
Cardi B filed for divorce from Offset last August. The two have since gone their separate ways, though their divorce hasn’t been finalized as they continue to work out custody and spousal support.
