Ed Sheeran Teams Up with Emmy-Winning Director for New Netflix Musical Experience “ONE SHOT”
Netflix just dropped some exciting news for music lovers — Ed Sheeran is teaming up with Emmy Award-winning director Philip Barantini for a brand-new musical experience titled ONE SHOT with Ed Sheeran.
Set to premiere November 21, the special will follow Sheeran as he journeys through New York City, performing some of his biggest hits in real time — all captured in one continuous take. Fans can expect intimate performances at iconic NYC landmarks, surprise subway sets, and spontaneous moments with fans along the way.
A press release calls the project “a groundbreaking, one-shot music experience” and says:
“The multi-Grammy Award winner will take viewers on a mesmerizing journey, during one afternoon, in real time, as he travels the streets of New York City, performing his greatest hits, captured in a single take. From impromptu performances on bustling sidewalks and subway cars, to intimate interactions with fans and passersby, Ed Sheeran’s journey through New York will be captured in a series of unforgettable moments, highlighting the pandemonium and excitement that follows.”
Barantini, who recently won an Emmy for his work on Netflix’s Adolescence, is known for his signature one-take filming style, which brings a raw, immersive energy to his projects. He’s previously used the technique in the 2021 hit Boiling Point and its follow-up series.
Produced by Ben Winston and Fulwell Entertainment, ONE SHOT aims to blend live performance, storytelling, and documentary-style realism — offering a one-of-a-kind look at Sheeran’s connection with his music and fans.
This isn’t Barantini’s only big project with Netflix — he’s also set to direct Enola Holmes 3, taking over the popular Millie Bobby Brown-led franchise.
Fans won’t have to wait long to see what Sheeran and Barantini cook up — ONE SHOT with Ed Sheeran hits Netflix on November 21.
