Claressa Shields Secures Groundbreaking $8 Million Deal — Becomes the Highest-Paid Woman in Boxing

Written by on 11/07/2025

Claressa Shields is rewriting history yet again. The undisputed world champion, two-time Olympic gold medalist, and five-division titleholder has just signed a record-shattering multi-fight deal that cements her place as the highest-paid woman in boxing.

On Thursday, Nov. 6, the 30-year-old star — who’s also a rapper — announced a new partnership with Salita Promotions and Wynn Records, guaranteeing her at least $8 million over the next two years, according to Ring Magazine.

“I’ve fought my entire career to prove that women’s boxing deserves equal respect, equal pay, and equal opportunity,” Shields said in a statement via CBS Sports. “Partnering with Salita Promotions and Wynn Records gives me the platform to keep breaking barriers inside and outside the ring. Together, we’re building something that’s never been done before.”

The deal marks a monumental milestone in Shields’ already legendary career. At just 17, the Flint, Michigan native became the youngest Olympic boxing gold medalist in U.S. history — and at 21, she made history again as the first American boxer, male or female, to win back-to-back Olympic golds.

Now 17-0 with three knockouts, Shields — affectionately known as “T-Rex” — remains ESPN’s No. 1 pound-for-pound women’s boxer.

Speaking on CBS Mornings, Shields revealed that the reported $8 million figure only scratches the surface of the total value of her new contract.

“That’s the thing about this deal — it’s a signing bonus,” she said. “Before I step into the ring, I get a large amount. The $8 million is just the minimum. It’s other stuff you get. So this deal is actually bigger than $8 million. That’s just the number we decided to put out there.”

Shields also highlighted what the deal means for women in sports at large:

“Listen, women in sports have been doing a lot these past few years — the WNBA, soccer, even boxing. I’m not the only woman making money. But to have this deal get done, I feel like I’m finally getting my just due.”

With this landmark contract, Claressa Shields isn’t just cashing a check — she’s cashing in on years of perseverance, trailblazing, and proof that women’s boxing can command the spotlight and the payday it deserves.
