MORGANTON, N.C. (AP) — A gaggle of mountain bikers on a North Carolina path noticed a canine trapped 30 ft (9 meters) down in a sinkhole — and it took a salty snack and a few straps to elevate him to security.
The group was driving the Sinkhole Path at Pisgah Nationwide Forest, about 50 miles (80 kilometers) south of Asheville, on Sunday once they encountered the canine, who had apparently been caught within the gap for a number of days, in response to Burke County Search And Rescue.
