A Public Reading: To The Mountaintop
Celebrating the final public speech of the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.
FREE EVENT

By reflecting the creative vision articulated by the Rev. Martin Luther King Jr. on the day before his assassination,  “The Mountain Top speech” reflects a vision — which is decidedly different from his “I Have A Dream Speech.” King’s vision creates a rich opportunity to advance the city of Boston, the nation and the world. This is our mission.

To The Mountaintop, take the last words of Rev. Martin Luther King which provides a framework for investing in a more hospitable culture, more vibrant social engagement, more defining strategies about improving our common wealth.

The Importance of the Last Words

Rev. Martin Luther King Jr. was organizing in Memphis at the time of his assassination. As he continued to plan the Poor Peoples Campaign to occupy Washing DC in the months ahead, King joined the fight for workers rights in Memphis.

His solidarity with the Memphis scavengers encapsulated is political and spiritual commitments. They provide a blueprint for us today to stride toward freedom.
