J.I.D Tackles Black History with “Skegee” Single

Written by on February 23, 2021

It’s been roughly two years (on the time of this publish) since J.I.D launched his DiCaprio 2 venture. Since then the Dreamville artist has racked up numerous accolades, collaborated with the likes of Conway the Machine and Dua Lipa, and reunited together with his Spillage Village crew to launch the group’s main label debut Spilligion.

Whereas his followers (and the DopeHouse) awaits the discharge of The Eternally Story, J.I.D has been treating followers to a stream of loose offerings, together with his newest drop, the Christo-laced “Skegee.”

An abbreviation of Tuskegee, a traditionally black college in Alabama who as soon as recruited J.I.D throughout his soccer days, the tune finds the Atlanta rapper talking on each town and faculty’s historical past – which incorporates the notorious and dehumanizing “Tuskegee Experiment.”

“Everyone knows Black Historical past is each month, however I needed to drop one thing to focus on this month particularly,” J.I.D says.

Shot in Tuskegee, Alabama, the official video may be seen under.
