John Legend Developing Political Drama Starring Nia Long

Nia Lengthy is returning to tv with the assistance of John Legend.

In response to Deadline, John Legend’s Get Lifted Movie Co is teaming with Sony Footage TV to carry Goldie Taylor’s 2018 novel Paper Gods to ABC. Nia Lengthy is ready to star and govt produce.

Paper Gods is the story of “the mayor of Atlanta Victoria Dobb and a washed-up reporter examine a collection of assassinations and uncover a conspiracy that reaches into the center of town’s political machine.”

Lengthy, who will play Victoria Dobb, stated in an announcement, “Victoria Dobbs is a superbly flawed and complex character. I sit up for exploring her journey as a spouse, mom and politician. Paper Gods highlights the profound influence Black girls have on American politics and the world.”

Tasha Grey will function the showrunner. She stated in an announcement, “Nia and I got here collectively in remembrance of our pal, and my mentor, John Singleton. From that friendship blossomed a chance to inform a profound story that’s close to to my coronary heart,” which was the Unsolved: The Murders of Tupac and Infamous B.I.G.

Grey continued, “Each of us, women from the hood, stand proud as sturdy Black girls devoted to telling the reality about our existence in a world that hardly ever champions or protects us. But, we constantly endeavor to avoid wasting the world. I’m so comfortable and excited to work with wonderful individuals to inform a layered story assured to captivate audiences with Ms. Nia Lengthy as our lead.”

Taylor, who may even function a producer, wrote concerning the announcement on Twitter, “I’m so GRATEFUL and honored to share this information! Thanks @johnlegend @NiaLong @mikejackson @sony and @ABCNetwork for bringing my story to life!”

Manufacturing is scheduled to start subsequent 12 months.
