Steve Harvey Biopic In The Works

A biopic about Steve Harvey is in early development, Deadline reports.

Seventy-Two will chronicle the 72-hours leading up to Harvey’s legendary 1993 performance at the Apollo Theatre in New York City.

Harvey’s journey into comedy began when he was 26 and left his sales job to embark on his stand-up career. However, ten years after taking that giant step, Harvey experienced a period of self-doubt that would ultimately significantly affect his performance at the Apollo.

Mohamed Kheir and Matthew R. Cooper of Objectively Good Media are on board as producers alongside Harvey’s East 112 company. A writer has yet to be hired for the film.

“I’ve been reluctant to make a movie about my life for years, until I read the pitch for Seventy-Two,” said Harvey in a statement. “It focuses on one of the most difficult moments in my journey and career, and shows the world that hope is never truly lost. Wait until you see what we do with this.”

Kheir added, “Securing the rights to tell this story has been an incredible honor. Steve Harvey’s ability to turn his trials into triumphs is inspiring, and Seventy-Two will showcase the resilience and determination that defined those pivotal days. We look forward to sharing this powerful narrative with audiences worldwide.”

While he was getting things sorted out for his biopic, Harvey took some time to seemingly shade Katt Williams, who had spoken about him during his explosive appearance on Club Shay Shay at the top of the year. Harvey was a guest speaker at Invest Fest in Atlanta and spoke to the audience about paying no attention to haters.

“You’ll never have a hater that’s doing better than you, always know that,” Harvey told the audience. “Don’t get off the wall to address some petty-ass boy who ain’t got shit going for himself, stop your climb on up the wall so you can come down here and talk to his little punk ass.”
