Dame Dash Is Going Off Again — But Will It Help His New Show?

Written by on 06/18/2026

Dame Dash is on a rampage.

The Roc-A-Fella co-founder has a new show called OG Stories airing on BET, and he’s doing a full-court press to promote it. One thing that should be established from the start: Dame is the creator of the show. He’s not just appearing in it. He’s behind it. He’s also using the platform to promote music and other ventures, proving once again that somehow, some way, Dame always finds a way to get to the money.

I’m not mad at him. Some people might be.

From what I’ve seen, Dame is doing extensive media runs, and in typical Dame fashion, he’s creating headlines everywhere he goes. The show itself focuses on the stories of notable figures connected to street culture, entrepreneurship and survival. The latest episode centers on Michelle Smalls, often referred to as the Queen of Harlem.

Let’s be clear about something: Michelle Smalls is not a gangster. She’s a respected businesswoman, author and real estate entrepreneur with a remarkable story. Don’t confuse this with some of the other street-based reality programming out there. That’s not what this is.

Now, back to Dame.

In interview after interview, he’s taking shots at just about everybody. That shouldn’t surprise anyone. References to Jay-Z and Charlamagne Tha God continue to pop up, which has become a recurring theme whenever Dame sits down in front of a microphone. There have been other targets as well, but some of those comments are a little too spicy to get into right now.

What is clear is that Dame understands how to get people talking.

Whether all the controversy translates into ratings is another story entirely.

I watched the show, and honestly, it’s entertaining enough. The stories are interesting, and Dame’s personality certainly keeps things moving. BET is also operating under a new leadership structure, so it’ll be interesting to see how aggressively the network supports original content like this moving forward.

Will OG Stories get a second season.

Will viewers tune in for the stories? Will they tune in for Dame’s commentary? Or will the headlines overshadow the actual content?

For now, we’ll have to wait and see.

And while we’re waiting, we’re also still waiting for that infamous “teeth” song aimed at his rivals to finally hit your favorite DSP.

What do you think? Is Dame helping OG Stories by stirring up controversy, or is he becoming the story himself?
