50 Cent Says He Spoke to Cassie to Prepare for Producing ‘Sean Combs: The Reckoning’: “I Had to Understand How It All Happened”

Written by on 12/11/2025

50 Cent is peeling back the layers on his work behind Netflix’s smash-hit docuseries Sean Combs: The Reckoning — and he’s revealing just how close he got to the people at the center of Diddy’s downfall.

In a new Us Weekly cover story, the G-Unit mogul says he spoke directly with Cassie Ventura, whose 2023 lawsuit ignited the avalanche of allegations that ultimately collapsed Combs’ empire.

“I think she’s going to understand it,” 50 said when asked how Cassie might feel about the documentary. “It was important that I talked to her to understand how things transpired.”

He also confirmed that he held separate conversations with Cassie’s husband, Alex Fine — a move that further signaled just how deeply he dug into Diddy’s inner circle.

“When you hear things multiple times from different people, it rings true,” he added.

Diddy Tried — and Failed — to Shut the Doc Down

Combs’ legal team attempted to derail the project, firing off a cease-and-desist and labeling the four-part series a “shameful hit piece.”

Netflix didn’t blink. The doc dropped as scheduled — and exploded, pulling in more than 21.8 million views in its opening week.

Cassie’s Lawsuit Was the Spark

Cassie’s bombshell 2023 lawsuit accused Diddy of rape, physical violence, trafficking, and years of control. Although he settled within 48 hours, the filing cracked the dam wide open: dozens of alleged victims soon stepped forward with their own stories.

The Reckoning tracks Cassie’s decade-long entanglement with Combs and exposes alleged patterns of manipulation, coercion, and the now-infamous “freak-offs” she was reportedly forced to participate in.

In a recent ABC News interview, 50 Cent described Cassie as a young woman pulled into a world she had no real way to navigate.

“She came in at 18 or 19. After a while, you’re conditioned for it,” he said. “If I didn’t say anything, people would think hip-hop is fine with his behavior.”

Cassie ultimately walked away from Combs in 2018, married Alex Fine in 2019, and today the couple shares three children — a stark contrast to the chaos she endured for years.
