Written by on 09/25/2025

Marvin Jones III is leveling up in the Marvel world. The actor has officially been cast as Tombstone in the upcoming film Spider-Man: Brand New Day.

Production on the highly anticipated movie briefly paused last week after Tom Holland suffered a concussion on set, but filming is set to resume September 29, keeping the project on track for its July 31, 2026 release.

For Jones, the role is familiar territory. He previously voiced Tombstone in Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse and the upcoming Beyond the Spider-Verse. Now, he’ll bring the crime boss to life in live action for the very first time.

Tombstone, aka Lonnie Lincoln, debuted in Marvel Comics back in 1988. The albino mobster is known for his nearly indestructible skin, razor-sharp teeth, and longtime rivalry with Spider-Man. His presence in Brand New Day hints at darker challenges ahead for Holland’s Peter Parker.

The movie’s cast is already stacked: Zendaya returns as MJ, Mark Ruffalo is back as the Hulk, and newcomers Sadie Sink and Liza Colón-Zayas have signed on in mystery roles. Shang-Chi director Destin Daniel Cretton is at the helm, with Kevin Feige and Amy Pascal producing.

Jones—also known by his rap name Krondon—has built a reputation for powerful performances. He broke out as villain Tobias Whale on Black Lightning and has since appeared in All American: Homecoming, The Equalizer, Halo, and the action flick Shadow Force alongside Kerry Washington. He’s also set to star in Amazon’s Criminal with Emilia Clarke and Jonás Cuarón’s Gringo Champion.

With Jones stepping into Tombstone’s shoes, Spider-Man: Brand New Day promises to bring fans one of the grittiest Spider-Man villains yet—this time, in live action.
