FBI Director Kash Patel Fires 15 Agents for Kneeling at George Floyd Protest

FBI Director Kash Patel just shook the Bureau again — this time firing 15 agents who were photographed kneeling during a 2020 protest in the wake of George Floyd’s death.
According to CNN and the Associated Press, the firings came after a months-long review of agents who took part in the demonstration. Agents who attended but didn’t kneel were allowed to keep their jobs, but those who dropped to one knee were shown the door.
The FBI Agents Association wasted no time blasting Patel, calling the move a violation of the agents’ “due process rights.” In a fiery statement Friday night, the group accused Patel of weakening the Bureau and risking national security:
“Patel’s dangerous new pattern of actions are weakening the Bureau because they eliminate valuable expertise and damage trust between leadership and the workforce, and make it harder to recruit and retain skilled agents — ultimately putting our nation at greater risk.”
The Association also clapped back at Patel’s messaging:
“As Director Patel has repeatedly stated, nobody is above the law. But rather than providing these agents with fair treatment and due process, Patel chose to again violate the law by ignoring these agents’ constitutional and legal rights instead of following the requisite process.”
The controversial photos at the center of the firing spree showed agents kneeling during a Floyd protest — a symbolic act that spread nationwide in 2020 as calls for justice and police reform shook America.

The purge comes as Patel continues to overhaul the FBI’s top ranks. Just last month, five more agents and senior executives were abruptly fired, fueling what insiders describe as plummeting morale inside the Bureau.
