Jasmine Crockett’s Supporters Shut Down Stephen A. Smith: TURN HIM OFF

U.S. Rep. Jasmine Crockett isn’t backing down. The Texas Democrat responded with signature fire after Stephen A. Smith publicly questioned whether her sharp opposition to Donald Trump actually benefits her constituents.
Smith’s critique came on a recent episode of his SiriusXM show Straight Shooter, where he painted Crockett’s rhetorical style as performative rather than productive. “I’m just going to go off about Trump, cuss him out every chance I get… and that’s my day’s work,” Smith said. He even floated the idea of her “working with this man” instead of challenging his agenda.
Crockett clapped back without naming him directly. Instead, she reshared posts that called Smith out, letting the digital smoke do the talking.
“Stephen A. Smith taking shots at Jasmine Crockett ain’t just messy, it’s weak,” read one post she amplified — originally from rapper Willie D — punctuated with a prayer-hands emoji.
For Crockett and many of her supporters, Smith’s remarks are part of a bigger, uglier trend: the policing of Black women’s tone when they refuse to soften their politics. Activist Tamika Mallory didn’t mince words either.
“It’s no longer a difference of opinion. Stephen A. Smith’s actions are intentional,” Mallory wrote in a post Crockett shared. “At what point will you lead the charge to TURN HIM OFF?!”

Smith, a powerhouse media voice, has faced backlash before for his commentary on Black women in politics and culture. This time, the pushback was swift — and loud.
Journalist Tiffany Cross didn’t hold back. She labeled Smith’s comments “absolute pure self-hating… ignorance” and urged Black men to pull their support from his platforms.

Willie D doubled down, calling Crockett “the kind of woman who walks into rooms full of snakes and makes the snakes flinch.” He framed Smith’s attack as betrayal, not mere criticism.

Crockett has built a reputation as one of the House’s most unapologetic voices. Known for sharp interrogations, viral floor moments, and bold clapbacks, she’s made Donald Trump’s legal and political battles a frequent target.
That same candor has also made her a lightning rod for critics — from MAGA supporters to centrist commentators who prefer quieter Black leadership.
But Crockett shows no sign of shrinking to fit someone else’s comfort level. If anything, the backlash only amplifies her platform.
Bottom line: This isn’t just a celebrity-politician spat. It’s a mirror reflecting how America responds when a Black woman in power refuses to play nice.
