A Bronx-based drill rapper charged in connection with a Midtown Manhattan shooting that critically injured New York Jets cornerback Kris Boyd was arraigned last week in Manhattan Criminal Court, prosecutors confirmed. Rolling Stone journalist Prezzy Brown first reported the development on Thursday, Jan. 22.
Fredrick Green, who performs under the name Tbo Zay, appeared in court on Jan. 21 to face multiple felony charges stemming from the Nov. 16 shooting. The 20-year-old has been charged with attempted murder in the second degree, first-degree assault, and two counts of second-degree criminal possession of a weapon.
During the arraignment, prosecutors said surveillance footage places Green at the scene before, during, and after gunfire erupted outside a restaurant on West 38th Street shortly after 2 a.m. Authorities allege the confrontation began as a verbal dispute fueled by perceived disrespect and escalated into violence.
According to the state, Green fired a weapon twice during the encounter. One bullet struck Boyd in the abdomen, traveled through his torso, and punctured a lung.
Boyd was rushed to Bellevue Hospital in critical condition following the shooting. He was later released, but was readmitted around Thanksgiving after experiencing complications related to the gunshot wound. Prosecutors said Boyd remains hospitalized.

Investigators previously reported that two vehicles fled the scene immediately after the shooting. Prosecutors claim they have linked those details to Green’s publicly released music, including lyrics and visuals they may attempt to introduce during pretrial proceedings.
Green was arrested in Buffalo in December after authorities said he fled New York City in the aftermath of the shooting. He is currently being held without bail.
Boyd signed with the Jets in 2025 and was already sidelined with a season-ending shoulder injury at the time of the incident. Following his initial release from the hospital, he publicly thanked supporters for their prayers and encouragement.
Green is scheduled to return to Manhattan Criminal Court on Feb. 15. The case remains ongoing as prosecutors continue to build their evidentiary record.
