The man accused of gunning down conservative commentator Charlie Kirk has been identified as 22-year-old Tyler Robinson, a Utah resident now in police custody.
Robinson was arrested Friday after a multi-day manhunt that gripped the state. Officials say family members and community tips were crucial in tracking him down. According to reports, Robinson’s own father recognized him in images released by investigators and pushed his son to turn himself in. A family friend later confirmed Robinson’s alleged involvement and alerted police.
Authorities are still digging into Robinson’s motive. Investigators are reviewing his political writings and possible ideological ties, though no official narrative has been released. It’s also unclear whether Robinson acted alone or had help planning the deadly shooting. Forensic evidence, including bullet casings, remains under review.
FBI Director Kash Patel issued a statement Friday, praising Kirk and promising justice. “To my friend Charlie Kirk: Rest now, brother. We have the watch and I’ll see you in Valhalla,” Patel said. “We will work hand in hand with state and local authorities for as long as it takes to ensure every suspect tied to this crime is brought to justice.”
