Brandy is setting the record straight after her sudden departure from the stage during “The Boy Is Mine Tour” stop in Chicago on Saturday, October 18.
The R&B icon was mid-performance at the United Center alongside Monica when she unexpectedly walked off, cutting the night short without their signature duet, “The Boy Is Mine.”
The next day, Brandy addressed the incident in a heartfelt Instagram statement, revealing that dehydration and feeling faint forced her to leave the stage earlier than planned.
“Thank you all for the overwhelming love, support, and—most importantly—your prayers,” she wrote. “I sincerely apologize for the abrupt end to last night’s performance in Chicago.”
She explained that after weeks of intense rehearsals, prioritizing her health became essential. While she tried to return, technical issues prevented a proper continuation of the show.
Brandy also praised Monica for her grace and professionalism throughout the situation. She confirmed she sought local medical care and reassured fans she would be back on stage for the next show in Indianapolis on Sunday, October 19, before the tour takes a short break and resumes in Nashville on October 24.
Although many fans expressed disappointment over the lack of on-the-ground communication at the concert, Brandy made it clear she’s committed to coming back stronger and giving fans the performance they deserve.
“I love you all and I’ll see you very soon,” she closed her message.
