Cardi B Sparks Political Debate After Saudi Arabia Trip, Questions Life in America

Written by on 12/15/2025

Cardi B’s latest livestream took a sharp political turn after the rapper returned from performing overseas and began contrasting her experience abroad with life in the United States.

The Bronx native spent several days in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, where she headlined the Soundstorm Festival from December 11–13. During downtime between performances, Cardi went live on Instagram and spoke glowingly about her time in the Middle East, praising both the atmosphere and the way she was treated.

“The people over here is hip, honey. They are very polite. They don’t look at you like you’re poor,” she said, describing the reception she received. She also highlighted the affordability of everyday expenses, adding, “I like everything duty-free, tax-free, discount-free.”

Her tone shifted noticeably once the conversation turned back to the United States. Cardi expressed growing frustration with the political climate and said she feels unappreciated at home.

“I’m starting not to like America. America makes me pay taxes. The Vice President is talking sh*t about me on Twitter. I don’t feel real appreciated in America,” she told viewers. “Y’all need to convince me to come back.”

The comments come amid Cardi’s long-running criticism of former President Donald Trump and his administration. After Trump’s return to office, she previously wrote on social media, “We need a Hail Mary.”

Her remarks quickly drew backlash from Trump supporters online. As reported, one commenter wrote:

“Well, let me tell you, Cardi B is free to make her own choices, but if she doesn’t want to come back to the USA, that’s her loss! We’re focused on keeping America great and supporting our leaders like Vice President JD Vance. MAGA AmericaFirst.” Another bluntly added, “Nobody cares if Cardi B ever came back to America.”

The timing of Cardi’s frustration raised eyebrows. Days earlier, Vice President J.D. Vance tweeted “Nicki > Cardi,” shortly after Nicki Minaj publicly aligned herself with Trump on issues related to Christians in Nigeria. The post, paired with ongoing industry rivalries, appears to have intensified Cardi’s sense that she is being singled out politically.

While Cardi has not indicated any concrete plans to leave the U.S., her comments reignited debate about celebrity political speech, patriotism, and how public figures navigate partisan scrutiny in the digital age.
