Chadwick Boseman to be Honored with Posthumous Star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame

Written by on 11/14/2025

The Hollywood Chamber of Commerce has announced that the late Black Panther icon Chadwick Boseman will receive a posthumous star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

“The Hollywood Chamber of Commerce is deeply honored to celebrate Chadwick Boseman’s extraordinary legacy,” Walk of Fame producer Ana Martinez told Billboard. “His powerful performances and enduring impact both on and off screen continue to inspire generations around the world.”

Boseman’s star will be unveiled on Nov. 20, with Ryan Coogler — director of Black Panther and Sinners — and Viola Davis slated to speak. His widow, Simone Ledward-Boseman, will accept the honor on his behalf.

Boseman, who died in 2020 at age 43 after a private battle with colon cancer, built a career defined by purpose. Before becoming Marvel royalty, he portrayed towering figures in Black American history — Jackie Robinson, James Brown, and Thurgood Marshall — bringing depth and dignity to each role. But it was his turn as King T’Challa that transformed him into a global cultural force.

His work earned widespread acclaim. In 2021, Boseman received a posthumous Oscar nomination for Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom, along with Golden Globe, Critics’ Choice, and SAG Awards. His alma mater, Howard University, also renamed its college of fine arts in his honor.

Since his passing, fellow artists have spoken openly about his personal and professional impact.

“He changed my life,” Coogler said earlier this year. “He was a fully baked man from the South… the kind of teacher you never knew you were getting a lesson from. It was all by example.”

Viola Davis echoed that sentiment in a 2020 reflection:

“I can’t see his life tragically at all… He was always living in the moment, squeezing out every bit of life. It’s not the quantity, it’s the quality.”

Fans can watch the ceremony live on WalkOfFame.com. Boseman’s star will be located at 6904 Hollywood Blvd. — a permanent tribute to an artist whose influence shows no signs of fading.
