Kamala Harris Book Tour Met with Gaza Protesters Shouting ‘War Criminal’

Written by on 10/14/2025

Former Vice President Kamala Harris is facing growing backlash during her book tour for her memoir 107 Days, as protesters at multiple events accused her of supporting violence in Gaza.

According to the Baltimore Sun, Harris’s talk at the Warner Theater in Washington, D.C. on Friday was interrupted when several audience members shouted over her remarks. One protester called her a “war criminal” and claimed her “legacy was genocide.” Video captured security escorting a woman out of the venue.

Harris fired back with a pointed response:

“You know what? I am not president of the United States. You want to go to the White House and talk to him, then go on and do that.”

The comment drew loud applause from the audience.

The next night in Chicago, protesters again disrupted her appearance, chanting “killer Kamala” and accusing her of supporting genocide. One heckler shouted,“What about the press you let die in Gaza, Kamala? You sent $20 billion to fund the genocide,”

Kamala Harris, your legacy is genocide,” the protester continued before also being escorted out of the theater.

Despite the outbursts, Harris continued with her remarks, which focused on press freedom and government transparency.

While Harris served as vice president from 2021 to 2025, she did not have constitutional authority over foreign policy or weapons sales—powers reserved for the president and Congress. The VP can advise and influence, but cannot make final policy decisions.

Harris has previously defended her record, saying she pushed for humanitarian aid and public acknowledgment of the crisis in Gaza.

“I was the first person at the highest level of our United States government or administration to talk about the fact that the people in Gaza were starving,” she told protesters at an earlier book event, according to the Washington Post.

As of Sunday night, NBC News reports that all remaining living Israeli hostages have been released as part of a peace agreement brokered in Egypt, which also includes the release of hundreds of Palestinian prisoners. The deal has been backed by several international leaders.

Harris has not directly addressed the latest protests, but her tour continues with several upcoming stops across the U.S.
