Kim Kardashian Reflects on “Toxic” Kanye West Marriage in Candid Podcast Interview

Kim Kardashian is pulling back the curtain on the darker moments of her marriage to Kanye West.
The reality star and business mogul sat down for a revealing conversation on Alex Cooper’s Call Her Daddy podcast, where she opened up about the emotional toll of being in what she now calls a “toxic relationship.”
“I do have a problem of only remembering the good,” Kardashian admitted. “I’m a really forgiving person. But I really haven’t dated like that, to have those kinds of toxic relationships since I’ve been divorced.”
Kardashian reflected on how age and experience shifted her perspective: “I think when you get older, you just don’t tolerate that sh*t. You don’t have time.”
She explained how difficult it was to navigate Kanye’s public struggles and the private reality of their relationship.
“People can say there were signs and maybe I wasn’t paying attention to them. I think when someone has their first mental break, you wanna be super supportive. You wanna help figure that out and be there for them.”
But ultimately, Kardashian said, West wasn’t “willing to make changes” she felt were necessary for a healthy marriage.
“It makes it really hard to continue in a relationship that can be toxic,” Kardashian said. “When you have kids, it’s definitely harder to leave than it is to stay. And it changes everyone’s life forever.”
For Kardashian, the breaking point was her own well-being. “Once my mental health starts to get affected, and then I can’t parent the way that I need to, and I can’t be present and focused, then there’s gotta be one of us that can,” she shared.
“I had to save myself in order to be a better mom for everyone.”
Her kids, she said, are her motivation—and her daughter North is even encouraging her to move on.
“She just said to me the other day, ‘Mom, you’ve got to get remarried. You’re getting too old, and no one is gonna deal with this.’ She says it to me all the time,” Kardashian revealed with a laugh.
Kardashian finalized her divorce from Kanye West in 2022 after nearly eight years of marriage. The two share four children: North, Saint, Chicago, and Psalm. Kim’s interview on Call Her Daddy is out now.
