Nas Makes It Clear: He’s Not Interested in the Super Bowl Halftime Spotlight

Written by on 10/16/2025

Nas has officially shut down any speculation that he might one day take the stage at the Super Bowl Halftime Show.

“I can’t say I don’t want to do a Super Bowl, but I don’t,” the Queensbridge legend told Complex. “Why would I do that? Leave it to the professionals.”

Though he acknowledged,

“I’m a pro at what I do,” Nas made it clear that the spectacle of the NFL’s biggest night isn’t his vibe. “I want to watch dope halftime shows,” he added. “And that’s what has been happening lately, so salute to all of them.”

As Bad Bunny prepares to make history as the first solo Spanish-language artist to headline the Super Bowl Halftime Show in 2026, Nas is choosing a different spotlight.

Rather than chase stadium theatrics, the rap icon is focused on his upcoming joint album with DJ Premier — a long-awaited full-length collaboration between two of Hip-Hop’s most respected names.

The still-untitled album is set to drop in December as part of Mass Appeal’s Legend Has It… series. The campaign celebrates seven Hip-Hop icons — Nas & DJ Premier, Ghostface Killah, Raekwon, Mobb Deep, De La Soul, Big L, and Slick Rick — each releasing new projects throughout 2025.

For Nas, it’s always been about bars over spectacle. Since the release of Illmatic in 1994, widely hailed as one of the greatest rap albums ever, he’s built his legacy on storytelling, cultural impact, and lyrical precision.

So while the Super Bowl might be “super rockstar s###,” as he put it, Nas is happy to watch from the sidelines — and let the music speak louder than the fireworks.
