Nicki Minaj is putting action behind her Caribbean roots — lending a helping hand to Jamaica in the wake of Hurricane Melissa, the strongest storm ever to hit the island.
On Wednesday night (November 5), the rap superstar shared videos of her team distributing vital supplies to families across the island — including diapers, propane tanks, and power grills. Minaj noted that the relief mission won’t be a one-day effort.
“Plus tmrw & possibly longer,” she wrote. “One Love, Jamaica. Love you. 🇯🇲♥️”

Minaj joins a growing list of artists rallying behind the country’s recovery. Sean Paul, who was on the island during the hurricane, revealed last week that his property suffered heavy damage. The dancehall icon pledged to match donations up to $50,000 through his foundation and Food For The Poor Jamaica.
“Every donation counts, no matter how small,” he wrote. “Together, we can make a big difference… I’ll be matching every dollar raised, up to fifty thousand dollars.”
Hurricane Melissa struck Jamaica as a Category 5 storm with sustained winds of 185 mph, leaving catastrophic destruction in its path. Officials have confirmed 28 deaths so far, with more fatalities reported in Haiti and the Dominican Republic.
As recovery efforts continue, the global reggae and Caribbean communities — from Sean Paul to Shaggy, Beenie Man, and now Nicki Minaj — are proving that “One Love” isn’t just a lyric; it’s a lifeline.
