Playboi Carti Hit with Misdemeanor Assault Charge After Alleged Altercation with Limo Driver

Playboi Carti may have lived up to his “Antagonist” tour name a little too well. According to TMZ, the “Magnolia” rapper is facing a misdemeanor assault charge after a heated altercation with a limo driver earlier this month in Utah.

Police say the incident happened on October 2, when limo driver Carl Reynolds was transporting Carti and his entourage from the Waldorf Astoria in Park City to a rehearsal. The rapper was scheduled to perform at the Delta Center in Salt Lake City the following day.

Tensions reportedly flared after Carti and his girlfriend, influencer Giovanna Ramos, got into a loud argument allegedly about sex. Reynolds told police that while he didn’t witness the punch directly, he saw Giovanna “hunched over holding near her chest.” He asked Carti’s security to remove the rapper from the car. That’s when things escalated.

Reynolds claims that as Giovanna exited the vehicle, Carti suddenly punched him in the face, leaving him with a “bruised, swollen jaw and a whiplash effect.” Police responded to the scene and documented Reynolds’ injuries as part of their investigation.

At this time, Carti has only been cited for assaulting the driver — not his partner. Neither the rapper nor his team has released a public statement.

This marks another legal flare-up for the Atlanta rapper, who’s currently on his high-energy “Antagonist” tour.
