Rhona Bennett Breaks Silence — Confirms Exit From En Vogue After 22 Years: “It’s a New Season”

Written by on 11/19/2025

Rhona Bennett — the powerhouse vocalist who spent 22 years as part of En Vogue — has officially stepped away from the iconic R&B group. The singer announced her departure on Thursday, Nov. 13, calling the decision “a new season” and a necessary shift in her personal and creative life.

In a heartfelt Instagram post, Bennett said every artist eventually reaches a moment where “the path changes — sometimes without full clarity, but always with purpose.” She emphasized that protecting her values, artistic freedom, and personal truth is now her top priority.

“There comes a time in every artist’s journey when the path changes — sometimes without full clarity, but always with purpose,” she wrote. “Over the years, I’ve done deep work to develop my voice — not just musically, but personally and spiritually. I’ve learned that honoring my values, creative expression, and truth must come before anything else.”

Bennett also addressed the growing speculation around her absence from En Vogue’s performance during the 2025 Rock & Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony with Salt-N-Pepa. According to her, she had already been approved to lead her own event on Nov. 8 — the same night as the ceremony — but was never informed that En Vogue had been booked to perform. She said she discovered the news “at the same time as the public.”

Fans quickly flooded her comments with messages of support.

As conversations intensified, original members Terry Ellis, Cindy Herron, and Maxine Jones issued a joint statement on Nov. 17 confirming that Bennett is no longer with the group.

“Out of due respect for our sisters @saltnpepaofficial and their induction into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, we chose to refrain from addressing Rhona Bennett’s departure from En Vogue until now,” they wrote.

Bennett later clarified on Facebook that the Hall of Fame situation is only a small part of a larger story.

“The reason for our parting is much more nuanced than that,” she told a fan.

En Vogue, formed in Oakland in the late ’80s, originally featured Terry Ellis, Cindy Herron, Dawn Robinson, and Maxine Jones. Robinson and Jones left the group years ago — with Jones rejoining earlier this year.

Bennett’s exit marks the end of a long chapter and the beginning of whatever comes next for both her and one of R&B’s most celebrated groups.
