Snoop Dogg Reverses Course, Voices Support for Same-Sex Parenting in New Children’s Song

Written by on 10/17/2025

Rapper Snoop Dogg is stepping into a new era of advocacy, publicly supporting same-sex parenting just weeks after sparking backlash for remarks about LGBTQ+ representation in children’s films. This shift comes alongside his collaboration with GLAAD to promote inclusion through music and storytelling.

As part of GLAAD’s annual Spirit Day campaign — which combats bullying against LGBTQ+ youth — Snoop released a children’s track titled “Love Is Love” and joined a candid video conversation with queer artist Jeremy Beloate.

“It’s a beautiful thing that kids can have parents of all walks… and be shown love, and be taught what love is,” Snoop said. “Whether it’s two fathers, two mothers, whatever it is, love is the key.”

Snoop went on to thank same-sex parents for their work in raising children and highlighted the power of music to teach and shape young minds.

The rapper’s new message stands in sharp contrast to his earlier comments on his It’s Giving podcast, where he reacted awkwardly to a same-sex parenting scene in Pixar’s Lightyear. Snoop admitted he didn’t know how to answer his grandson’s questions at the time and described the moment as “throwing him for a loop.”

Those remarks drew swift criticism, with many labeling them out of touch. But now, Snoop is taking ownership of that moment. He said kids ask questions naturally, and it’s up to adults to guide them with openness rather than avoidance.

By aligning with GLAAD’s Spirit Day and amplifying messages of acceptance, Snoop is positioning himself as an unexpected but powerful ally in the conversation around LGBTQ+ inclusion.

“Love is love,” Snoop said plainly. “That’s the key.”
