Snoop Dogg’s NBC New Year’s Eve Special Pulled — Rap Legend Gears Up for 2026 Winter Olympics

Written by on 11/06/2025

Fans hoping to ring in 2026 with Snoop Dogg’s New Year’s Eve bash on NBC and Peacock will have to wait a little longer. The highly anticipated live special, originally set to air from Miami on December 31, has been canceled, NBCUniversal confirmed.

According to Deadline, the event promised “unforgettable music, iconic performances, and surprise artist collaborations.” But in true Snoop fashion, the West Coast legend has a bigger stage in sight — the Winter Olympics.

“Sometimes the calendar gets in the way of the celebration,” Snoop said in a statement. “Which is why my NBC family and I decided this winter was time for us all to focus on the Olympics. But don’t worry, we’ll party together bigger and better later in 2026. Ya dig.”

The Doggfather became a surprise fan favorite during NBC’s Paris 2024 Summer Olympics coverage, with his viral “Snoop’s Greatest Hits” segments alongside Mike Tirico. His off-the-cuff humor and charm earned him the title of “Ambassador of Happiness.”

Now, Snoop is set to return for the 2026 Winter Olympics in Milan-Cortina, Italy, airing February 6 on NBC and Peacock. The 17-day event will once again feature his signature energy and comedic commentary.

“I’m excited to be back with my main man Mike Tirico,” Snoop said. “The D-O-double-G will be on the scene — bringing people together, unifying, and having fun. I’ll have my puffy jackets, snow pants, goggles, skates… and I’ll definitely be iced out.”

So while the ball won’t drop with Snoop this New Year’s Eve, fans can look forward to watching him light up the world’s biggest winter stage — Olympic style.
