SZA turned a Sabrina Carpenter concert into a viral moment Thursday night after the pop star “arrested” her mid-show with a pair of pink fuzzy handcuffs—part of a now-iconic comedy bit on Carpenter’s Short n’ Sweet Tour.
The Grammy-winning R&B powerhouse, born Solána Imani Rowe, was seated courtside at Crypto.com Arena in a striking red corset that immediately caught Carpenter’s attention. Mid-performance, the 25-year-old “Espresso” hitmaker stopped the show, spotted SZA, and threw herself into the flirtatious theatrics of her “Juno” skit.
“I’ve got some competition,” Carpenter teased as faux police sirens blared through the arena. “SZA, you know what they say, it’s cuffing season, so I’m getting really flustered.”
She kept the charm going: “Would you be the audience? Will you be my Valentine? My fabulous? This one’s for SZA and Juno, girl. Such a beautiful—” she said before presenting the 35-year-old star with the fuzzy cuffs.
SZA—ever the good sport—smiled, played along, and accepted her “arrest.” She later reposted a fan video of the moment on Instagram Stories with the caption “Shy Guys @sabrinacarpenter.” Carpenter quickly returned the love by sharing SZA’s post on her own page.
The crossover moment arrives as SZA continues basking in the success of her blockbuster Grand National Tour with Kendrick Lamar. The trek shattered records, grossing more than $256 million across 23 North American shows and selling an astonishing 1.1 million tickets. Lamar now holds multiple spots among the top five highest-grossing Hip-Hop tours ever, including a massive $14.8 million one-night total.
SZA’s co-headline role on the European leg only cemented her stadium superstar status, building on her own sold-out “SOS Tour.”
Meanwhile, Carpenter’s “Juno arrest” gag has become a signature highlight of her tour, with a growing list of celebrity “suspects” that already includes Gigi Hadid, Nicole Kidman, Drew Barrymore, Millie Bobby Brown, Joe Keery, and TWICE members Jihyo, Momo, and Sana.
Thursday night, though, belonged to SZA—and the internet hasn’t stopped talking since.
