Tory Lanez Fined $20k After Refusing To Cooperate In Megan Thee Stallion Defamation Case

Written by on 11/19/2025

Tory Lanez and his attorney, Crystal Morgan, have been slapped with a $20,000 sanction after repeatedly stonewalling Megan Thee Stallion’s legal team, refusing to sit for questioning in her defamation lawsuit against blogger Milagro Gramz (legal name Milagro Cooper).

Lanez was found in contempt of court after ignoring multiple orders to participate in a deposition tied to the case. According to Rolling Stone, U.S. Magistrate Judge Lisette M. Reid warned the incarcerated rapper that continued defiance would cost him. Lanez allegedly responded by bragging that he “didn’t care what the fines were” because of his millionaire status.

THE DEFAMATION TRIAL IS UNDERWAY

The courtroom showdown officially kicked off Tuesday (Nov. 18), per BET.com. Megan is suing Cooper over allegations that the blogger used her platform to harass, discredit, and intimidate her after she testified against Lanez in the 2020 shooting — testimony that ultimately led to Lanez’s conviction.

Megan’s lawsuit brings three major claims against Cooper:
• Defamation
• Intentional infliction of emotional distress
• Promotion of an altered sexual depiction

That final claim falls under a new Florida statute enacted in 2024. The law allows victims to sue individuals who share or promote AI-generated sexual images of real people.

COOPER ACCUSED OF AMPLIFYING A MEGAN THEE STALLION DEEPFAKE

Megan’s legal team says Cooper liked an AI-generated sexual deepfake of the rapper on X (formerly Twitter), then told followers: “Go to my likes.” They argue the message encouraged her audience to view and spread the doctored video. Cooper allegedly repeated the same directive on Stationhead.

The blogger was the first witness to testify. She admitted she pointed fans toward the explicit video — but insisted she was simply responding to audience questions about a clip that was already circulating online. She also testified that while she hoped Tory Lanez might one day grant her an exclusive interview, she was acting independently.

LANEZ’S NONCOMPLIANCE DRAWS JUDGE’S IRE

Lanez’s refusal to answer deposition questions connected to the case triggered the $20,000 fine, along with stern warnings that further resistance could lead to additional penalties.

The “Savage” rapper’s defamation case is expected to spotlight the growing legal challenges surrounding AI-generated content, online harassment, and the weaponization of platforms against public figures — all while Tory Lanez continues serving his sentence for shooting Megan in 2020.
