Trey Songz Arrested in NYC After Alleged Nightclub Altercation, Faces Assault and Mischief Charges

Written by on 12/15/2025

Trey Songz was arrested in New York City earlier this month following an alleged altercation at a Manhattan nightclub, according to prosecutors.

The 41-year-old singer-songwriter was reportedly at Dramma Night Club in Times Square on December 4 when staff informed him the venue was closing around 4:25 a.m. Authorities allege that Songz became upset and punched an employee who asked him to leave.

Songz appeared in court on Sunday, December 14, for his arraignment on charges of assault and second-degree criminal mischief. The mischief charge is tied to a separate incident later that same day at Mira, a Manhattan restaurant and hookah lounge. Prosecutors allege Songz caused approximately $1,500 in property damage, including broken hookahs and damaged DJ equipment.

He was released after acknowledging the charges and is scheduled to return to court on February 18.

Songz has not publicly commented on the arrest. His attorney, Mitchell Schuster, pushed back on the allegations, claiming his client was confronted by a group that instigated the situation.

“Despite being the target of the initial provocation, Trey was arrested,” Schuster said in a statement. “Public figures are often treated as targets for instigation in pursuit of headlines or financial gain. Trey is cooperating fully in both matters, and we are confident the full context and facts will come to light.”

The arrest adds to a growing list of legal issues for the R&B star. In July, videographer Isaa Mansoor alleged that Songz assaulted him at a venue in Huntington, New York, damaging camera equipment during a dispute. Video from a March performance in North Carolina also circulated online, showing Songz in a heated exchange with a fan who rushed the stage.

In recent years, Songz has faced multiple civil allegations. In 2023, he settled a multi-million-dollar lawsuit over an alleged sexual assault at a Miami nightclub in 2018. He also resolved a separate $25 million lawsuit related to an alleged assault at a Los Angeles party in 2016.

As of now, Songz continues to deny wrongdoing and is set to appear in court again in February as the cases move forward.
