Tyrese Gibson is in legal trouble after one of his dogs was allegedly involved in a fatal attack on a neighborâs pet. The actor and singer was arrested early Friday (Oct. 3) in Atlanta on a misdemeanor animal cruelty charge, according to Fulton County jail records. He was booked just before 6 a.m. and later released on a $20,000 bond.
The case centers on a September 18th incident in Buckhead, where authorities say one of Gibsonâs Cane Corso mastiffs killed a five-year-old Cavalier King Charles Spaniel named Henry in the dogâs own yard. Henryâs owner described the discovery to FOX 5 as âheartbreaking,â noting the body was âcovered in slobber.â He added that Gibsonâs dogs were often seen roaming the neighborhood without leashes.
Police obtained a warrant earlier this week, but when they tried serving it at Gibsonâs home, he wasnât there. Around the same time, Gibson announced on social media that he was stepping away for a mental health break until November â a move that angered Henryâs owner, who accused him of dodging responsibility.
In a statement, Gibsonâs rep said the singer wasnât present during the incident, confirmed the dogs involved have since been rehomed, and shared that Gibson âextends his deepest condolencesâ to Henryâs family. The rep added that Tyrese is cooperating fully with investigators.
Gibson has not spoken publicly since his arrest. The investigation remains open as Fulton County officials decide next steps.
