Tyrese Hit with Animal Cruelty Charge After His Dogs Kill Neighbor’s Pet in Atlanta

Written by on 09/30/2025

Tyrese Gibson is facing heat in Atlanta after his Cane Corso dogs mauled a neighbor’s pet to death, landing the singer-actor in legal trouble.

Fulton County officials confirmed Tyrese has been charged with animal cruelty, and a misdemeanor warrant for his arrest is now active. The incident went down September 18 in Buckhead, when four of his Cane Corsos reportedly got loose and attacked a 5-year-old King Charles Cavalier Spaniel named Henry. The dog’s owner said Henry was let outside and found dead minutes later.

Police reports say this wasn’t an isolated slip-up — the same dogs were spotted running loose at least five times in the week leading up to the attack. Things got so bad that animal control had to step in after one woman was blocked from her car by the pack. Fulton County Police Animal Services Captain Nicole Dwyer said the charge is tied to negligence, and officers already tried to make an arrest attempt at Tyrese’s home this month.

Tyrese’s lawyer, Gabe Banks, responded with a statement Tuesday, saying his client is taking the matter seriously:

“Mr. Tyrese Gibson extends his deepest condolences to the family who lost their beloved dog to this tragic incident that occurred while Mr. Gibson was away from his home. Upon learning of this unfortunate accident, Mr. Gibson immediately made the difficult decision to rehome his dogs to a safe and loving environment.”

Banks added that Tyrese is cooperating with authorities and wants privacy as the case plays out.

This case marks yet another headline-making moment for the R&B star, who’s now dealing with the fallout of a tragedy that’s shaken his upscale Atlanta neighborhood.
