Disgusting Fox News host Brian Kilmeade Walks Back Viral Call to “Lethally Inject” Homeless People After Backlash

Written by on 09/15/2025

Fox News host Brian Kilmeade is in damage-control mode after a clip of him suggesting homeless people should receive “involuntary lethal injections” went viral, sparking outrage and calls for his firing.

The moment happened Wednesday on Fox & Friends during a segment about the murder of Iryna Zarutska in Charlotte, NC. The suspect, according to family, was struggling with mental illness and living in a homeless shelter.

As co-host Lawrence Jones argued that unhoused people should either accept taxpayer-funded resources or face jail time, Kilmeade jumped in with a chilling add-on: “Or involuntary lethal injection or something. Just kill ’em.”

By Sunday, the clip—circulating under the label “Brian Kilmeade endorses euthanizing homeless people”—had racked up more than 20 million views on X.

Facing backlash, Kilmeade offered an on-air apology:

“Now during that discussion, I wrongly said they should get lethal injections. I apologize for that extremely callous remark. I am obviously aware that not all mentally ill, homeless people act as the perpetrator did in North Carolina, and that so many homeless people deserve our empathy and compassion.”

But many aren’t buying it. Social media lit up with sharp criticism, with one user writing:

“I’m not seeing nearly enough calls for Brian Kilmeade to be fired.” Another added, “Your apology is hollow and you should be fired. There are over 30,000 homeless veterans and you are advocating for them to die by lethal injection.”

Others went broader, calling the comments “disgusting, inhumane, and reprehensible.”

The firestorm highlights the dangerous territory when shock-jock TV commentary collides with real-world issues like homelessness, mental health, and systemic failure. What Kilmeade may have tossed out as an offhand jab quickly turned into a global headline—one that has people questioning whether Fox will actually hold him accountable or simply let the controversy fade.
