GloRilla Speaks Out After Arrest Stemming From Violent Home Invasion

Grammy-nominated rapper GloRilla is breaking her silence following her recent arrest in connection to a violent home invasion at her Forsyth County, GA, residence.

The Memphis star, born Gloria Woods, was performing in Indianapolis for WNBA All-Star Weekend when three armed men stormed her home in the middle of the night. A family member exchanged gunfire with the suspects, who fled before police arrived.

Despite being the victim of the break-in, GloRilla says she ended up in handcuffs.

“Long story short my house gets home invaded and I’m the only one that gets arrested… instead of focusing on finding the suspects, they focus on some cannabis,” GloRilla wrote on social media.

Speaking with WSBTV, GloRilla added:

“I feel like me, and my brother and sister, we were victims in this situation. But somehow, they’re trying to paint us out to be suspects, and I just feel like it’s all the way wrong.”

According to her attorney, Drew Findling, over $700,000 worth of items were stolen. “Her brother and sister naturally called the police when this was going on,” he explained. However, investigators say they discovered marijuana in the home during their response. The Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office stated:

“Based on information obtained during the initial investigation, Task Force agents secured a search warrant for the home. A significant amount of marijuana was discovered in plain view.”

GloRilla was charged with felony marijuana possession, voluntarily surrendered, and was later released on bond. Findling blasted the move:

“The most egregious part is that there seems to be no movement whatsoever in this home invasion, but rather, within 24 hours, there were warrants for her arrest for a marijuana possession case. That’s unconscionable.”

The Sheriff’s Office has previously acknowledged GloRilla and her family as victims of a serious crime and vowed justice.

But now, her legal team says they’re considering their own independent investigation, calling the case against her a “misguided investigation.”
