Mario is clearing the air after a tense onstage moment at the Big Fresno Fair went viral. The R&B singer addressed the incident on Instagram Stories Tuesday (Oct. 14), insisting his outburst at a cameraman during his Oct. 12 set wasn’t an angry meltdown — just a misunderstanding.
“People are misinformed about the Fresno situation,” the Baltimore native began.
He explained that he arrived just 10 minutes before showtime and wasn’t aware that a videographer had been authorized to film his set. So when he noticed the cameraman hovering close to him, it immediately threw off his performance.
“Multiple times while seeing the cameraman through my peripheral, I got distracted and one time almost tripped over a speaker trying to make sure I’m not walking in the same direction as him,” Mario wrote. “He was too far down stage. A cameraman is not supposed to be that far down stage unless he’s with you and shooting you that close for a reason. It really can throw you off.”
The moment escalated when Mario, clearly frustrated, paused mid-performance and told the cameraman to “get the f*ck off the stage.” A clip of the exchange quickly spread online, sparking mixed reactions. Some fans labeled his response “unprofessional,” while others defended his right to control his performance environment.
Despite the uproar, Mario’s explanation shed light on how technical miscommunication can derail a live show — even for seasoned performers. So far, neither the fair organizers nor the videographer have publicly responded.
