Franklin Park’s Mayor’s Cup Returns With Full Slate of Races For 35th Year
Written by b87fm on 09/25/2025
Boston’s iconic Mayor’s Cup is back at Franklin Park, celebrating over 30 years of open cross-country racing. Founded in 1990 by legendary Boston coach Bill Squires, the event started with just nine runners and has grown into a major community tradition, drawing nearly 1,000 participants each year — from youth runners to international-caliber athletes. All races challenge competitors with the park’s famous Bear Cage Hill.
This year’s lineup includes:
-
Youth Races: 8 & under, 9–10, 11–12, 13–14
-
Franklin Park 5K All-Comers: Women and Men
Youth race winners will receive medals for the top three individuals in each division, and top three scoring team members will also be recognized (8/U and 9–10 divisions will be combined for team scoring). The Franklin Park 5K All-Comers will feature age-group divisions: 15–18, 19–39, 40–49, 50–59, 60–69, and 70+.
Pre-registration is required for all races.
