Miguel Slams ICE Raids During Interview: “People Pulled Out Because Of Skin Color”

Written by on 01/23/2026

Miguel stopped by Real 92.3 Los Angeles on Wednesday morning with more than music on his mind. The Grammy-winning R&B singer used his appearance on The Cruz Show to sharply criticize recent ICE enforcement tactics, launching into the topic before the hosts could even settle in.

“There’s a lot of things that are being done that are inhumane, you know, like these ICE raids,” Miguel said. “People getting pulled out of their homes. Citizens — actual citizens — being pulled out of their homes. Veterans.”

His comments come amid growing alarm over new federal immigration enforcement practices. According to an internal ICE memo obtained by the Associated Press, immigration agents have been granted expanded authority to enter homes using administrative warrants, without a judicial warrant signed by a judge. The directive, dated May 12, 2025, and signed by acting ICE Director Todd Lyons, represents a significant departure from long-standing constitutional safeguards governing home entry.

“We’re talking about people who have lives here and are here legitimately and have been productive and contributing to society,” Miguel continued. “Being yanked because of the color of their skin. Straight up.”

The memo has drawn fierce backlash from lawmakers. Sen. Richard Blumenthal of Connecticut called the directive “shocking,” saying it should “appall every American” and warning that it represents “dangerous, disgraceful abuses.” Blumenthal has demanded congressional testimony from ICE leadership.

Miguel is far from alone in speaking out. A growing number of high-profile artists have publicly criticized the administration’s immigration policies and enforcement tactics. Billie Eilish addressed ICE operations while accepting the 2026 MLK Jr. Environmental Justice Award on January 17, saying, “We’re seeing our neighbors being kidnapped, peaceful protesters being assaulted and murdered.”

Cardi B echoed similar concerns during a recent X Spaces conversation, admitting she fears that speaking out could lead to harsher deportation efforts. “He always gives dictatorship vibe,” she said of the president’s immigration policies.

Bad Bunny has also taken a public stand, previously announcing he excluded U.S. dates from his 2025–2026 tour due to concerns over ICE raids. The Puerto Rican superstar went further in a June Instagram video, calling ICE agents conducting raids in Puerto Rico “sons of b******.”

The controversy is intensifying as the Trump administration has openly stated that ICE will maintain a heightened presence during major public events, including the Super Bowl on February 8 at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, California — where Puerto Rican artists are set to headline the halftime show.

As immigration enforcement continues to dominate national debate, Miguel’s remarks underscore how deeply the issue has resonated within the entertainment community, particularly among artists with strong ties to immigrant and Black and Brown communities.
