Nicki Minaj Goes Quiet on Social Media After Foolish Turning Point USA Appearance

Nicki Minaj is stepping back from the spotlight — at least online. Following her surprise appearance at Turning Point USA’s AmericaFest, the superstar rapper has deactivated her Instagram account and signaled she plans to keep a much lower profile heading into 2026.
Minaj appeared onstage alongside Erika Kirk, widow of conservative activist Charlie Kirk, and delivered a speech praising President Donald Trump and Vice President JD Vance — calling both men “role models” for young people.
“This administration is full of people with heart and soul, and they make me proud,” Minaj said, noting she “loves” both Trump and Vance. She credited Trump with giving people “hope,” and said she aligned with him after “getting tired of being pushed around.”
Minaj also took a swipe at California Gov. Gavin Newsom, echoing Trump’s mocking nickname, “New-scum.” But the moment that exploded across social media came when Minaj mistakenly referred to Vice President Vance as an “assassin,” before quickly realizing the slip — especially sensitive given Charlie Kirk’s tragic fatal shooting at a Turning Point USA event earlier this year.
“You have amazing role models like the assassin, JD Vance,” she said, then immediately covered her mouth in embarrassment. Erika Kirk quickly stepped in, reassuring Minaj and brushing the moment aside, saying she knew Minaj’s “heart” and wasn’t judging her.
Minaj insisted she will no longer back down or reshape herself to satisfy critics, saying she’s done caring what detractors think.
But backlash was swift and intense — both politically and culturally — as fans, critics, and industry voices debated Minaj’s comments and her increasingly public embrace of conservative politics. Shortly after, her Instagram account disappeared.
For now, Nicki Minaj appears to be clearing the digital stage. Whether this is a brief reset or a long-term retreat remains to be seen — but the conversation surrounding her latest move is far from quiet.
