Offset Pays Off $1.5 Million IRS Debt Despite “Broke” Claims as Casino Sightings Fuel Doubt

Written by on 01/21/2026

Offset has quietly settled a massive federal tax bill—casting serious doubt on claims that he’s financially strapped amid his ongoing divorce from Cardi B.

According to Us Weekly, the IRS released a federal tax lien on December 26, 2025, confirming the former Migos rapper paid off $1,575,266.73 owed for the 2022 tax year. The lien had originally been filed in April 2024, meaning the debt remained unresolved for nearly two years before being cleared in one lump sum.

The payment raises obvious questions. For months, Offset has been portrayed as broke and cash-strapped, a narrative amplified by public statements and social media speculation. Yet despite those claims, he managed to produce more than $1.5 million to satisfy the IRS—without any public explanation of where the money came from.

Cardi B herself helped fuel the narrative during a September 2025 rant on X Spaces, alleging Offset was deliberately delaying their divorce in an attempt to force her to cover his tax obligations.

“The only reason why I’m still married is because somebody wants me to pay for their taxes,” Cardi said at the time. “The only way I can get out of my marriage is if I pay for somebody else’s taxes.”

She added that she felt financially “held hostage,” claiming Offset was demanding millions to finalize the split.

Yet Offset’s tax debt has now been paid—seemingly without Cardi’s involvement—suggesting he had access to substantial funds all along.

That revelation becomes even more complicated when viewed alongside Offset’s recent public appearances. On January 12, social media footage showed him at the Seminole Hard Rock Casino in Florida with Bobby Shmurda, wearing casino-branded apparel and playing slot machines for extended periods. The sighting reignited longstanding rumors about his gambling habits and alleged casino-related debts.

Influencer Celina Powell has accused Offset of owing her $15,000 from a gambling loan, claiming he asked her for cash at a casino and then refused to repay it. She alleged he was requesting Cash App transfers from multiple people at the time.

Rapper Lil Tjay made similar claims during a January 2025 Twitch stream, describing an encounter in which Offset appeared “panicked” and asked for money. Tjay said he loaned Offset $5,000—then another $5,000—both of which Offset allegedly took straight back to the casino floor.

Those allegations paint a picture of financial distress and impulsive behavior. But the ability to clear a seven-figure tax bill directly contradicts that image.

Despite the payment, Offset’s financial issues are far from over. He still owes the IRS $486,426.35 for the 2023 tax year, and the Georgia Department of Revenue has an outstanding $292,000 lien related to 2021 taxes. Combined, his remaining tax exposure totals more than $778,000.

Offset is also facing a February 2026 court hearing tied to a separate $232,000 civil judgment stemming from an alleged assault case in Florida, while his divorce from Cardi B continues to stall.

Whether Offset has been concealing assets, recently secured a major payout, or relied on outside help remains unclear. What is clear is that the narrative of total financial collapse no longer aligns with the numbers.
