Roc Nation’s Newest Star: Daylite Signs Major Distribution Deal, Bringing Real R&B Back to the Spotlight

In an era where R&B is searching for its soul, Brooklyn-born artist Daylite is ready to answer the call. The multi-talented singer, songwriter, producer, and rapper has just inked a major distribution deal with Roc Nation, positioning him as one of the genre’s most exciting rising voices.

We sat down with Daylite for an exclusive conversation about his roots, his inspirations, and what this milestone means for the future of R&B.

BILLBOARD HIP HOP INTERVIEW WITH DAYLITE

Billboard Hip Hop: First off — congrats on the Roc Nation deal! How does it feel to hit this new chapter?

Daylite: Thank you, I appreciate that! It’s surreal, man. I’ve been grinding since I was 13, writing music in my room, learning how to produce, studying legends. To now be partnered with a powerhouse like Roc Nation — it’s a blessing. But it’s also just the beginning.

Billboard Hip Hop: You have such a unique sound — smooth R&B with real hip-hop DNA. Who shaped that sound for you?

Daylite: I grew up on both sides of it. In church, I learned how to feel the music — that soulful expression. Then at home or in the streets, I was listening to Biggie, 2Pac, Nas, Fabolous. I studied Usher, Ginuwine, Bobby Brown — all those greats. I wanted to bring that emotion and honesty back to R&B, but with edge.

Billboard Hip Hop: What’s your mission with music right now?

Daylite: To uplift people, straight up. We’re missing that real, soulful R&B — music that speaks to your heart, your spirit. My goal is to bring that feeling back. Every track I drop, I want it to inspire, to heal, to move people. Not just to be heard — but to be felt.

Billboard Hip Hop: What can fans expect next now that you’re backed by Roc Nation?

Daylite: We’re turning up, no question. New visuals, new singles, big features. I’ve got a project dropping soon that’s gonna shake things up. Roc Nation believes in the vision, and we’re ready to give the world something real. I’m not just here to make noise — I’m here to make history.

Billboard Hip Hop: Any final message for your fans?

Daylite: Stay with me on this journey. I do this for y’all — for the ones who love real music. This is only the beginning, and I promise, we’re bringing R&B all the way back.
