Cardi B Says She Alone Provides for Kids, Offset is a Deadbeat

Written by on 09/05/2025

Cardi B is opening up about motherhood, sacrifice, and holding it down for her family — even if she feels like she’s doing it all by herself.

In her new Billboard cover story, the Bronx superstar revealed that raising her three kids — daughters Kulture (7), Blossom (11 months), and son Wave (4) — has transformed her into “a real woman.” Cardi shares her children with estranged husband Offset, but says the weight of providing falls on her shoulders.

“I do everything for my kids. I’m the only provider and you know what? Ain’t no complaining about it,” Cardi said. “I love them so much and they ground me.”

Cardi admitted that fame and money don’t take away the grind:

“If you think when you get rich you’re going to stop working, you’re never going to stop working. My mom used to be a cashier and worked every day. I had a rough childhood, but she always made sure we didn’t go without — and I want my kids to say the same about me.”

Even while exhausted, Cardi says motherhood is her anchor.

“It turned me into a real woman. I was like, ‘What makes a woman? Her body? Her cooking?’ It’s her maturity and her thinking. If I didn’t have kids, I wouldn’t sacrifice so much.”

Despite her rocky marriage to Offset — married in 2017, filed for divorce twice, most recently in July 2024 — Cardi says her focus stays on her children’s happiness. She recently threw Kulture a Hello Kitty-themed birthday party followed by a trip to Disney, sharing sweet family moments on Instagram.

For Cardi, music may have made her famous, but being both mom and provider is what truly defines her.
