Mike Tyson Admits He Used Fentanyl in the ’90s During His Boxing Career

Mike Tyson just dropped a bombshell about his past.
The boxing legend revealed on The Katie Miller Podcast that he used fentanyl back in the late ’90s — long before most people even knew what it was.
“That fentanyl stuff, I’ve done fentanyl before in the late 90s when it first came here,” Tyson admitted.
“It was for painkillers. I used to patch it on my toe, but it was like heroin. Once you take it off, you start withdrawing and throwing up, just like if you were on heroin.”
When asked how he avoided getting hooked, Tyson said he only stopped because he realized it could get him banned.
“My friend told me… ‘Mike, that’s a narcotic, you couldn’t use it,’” he explained. “I didn’t know that. I thought of it as just a painkiller.”
But Tyson isn’t just talking old battles — he’s gearing up for a new one. The 59-year-old just announced he’s officially fighting Floyd Mayweather Jr. in spring 2026.
“This fight is something neither the world nor I ever thought would happen,” Tyson said. “I still can’t believe Floyd wants to really do this. It’s going to be detrimental to his health, but he wants to do it, so it’s signed and it’s happening!”
Two icons. One ring. And from the way Tyson’s talking, this won’t be a friendly spar.
