Cardi B Says Offset Divorce Stalled Over Money and Taxes

Cardi B is opening up about why her divorce from Offset still isn’t finalized — and according to her, it’s all about money.
During a recent livestream on X Spaces (Sept. 22), Cardi told fans the split has dragged on because of Offset’s demands. “The only reason why I’m still married is because somebody wants me to pay for their taxes,” she said, also alleging he’s pushing for one of her properties before signing off on the divorce.
On paper, Cardi says she’s technically still married, but emotionally and physically, she’s been done.
“On a contract, I’m practically still married, because somebody [wants to] hold me hostage,” she explained, calling the situation “not peaceful at all.”
Legally Separated, But Not Free Yet
While the two are legally separated, the court hasn’t settled everything — including property division, tax claims, and money disputes. Legal experts say those issues can drag divorces out, especially when one side resists compromise.
Cardi, 32, and Offset, 33, share three kids — Kulture, Wave, and Blossom. She first filed for divorce back in 2020, but the couple reconciled before separating again in 2024.
Moving On
Despite the legal mess, Cardi says she’s focusing on her career, her wellbeing, and her growing family. She’s now expecting her fourth child with NFL star Stefon Diggs.
Still, she made it clear she’s not backing down when it comes to protecting her money.
“I will not accept terms that are exploitative,” she told fans.
For now, the divorce remains stuck until the two either reach an agreement or the courts step in.
