Joshua Allen, the Season 4 champion of So You Think You Can Dance, has tragically passed away at just 36 years old.

Allen, who made history in 2008 as the first hip-hop dancer to win the hit competition, became a fan favorite for his charisma, versatility, and high-energy performances. From hip-hop and samba to contemporary and even the show’s first-ever U.S. Bollywood routine, Allen proved he could do it all. His win came with a $250,000 prize and opened the doors to Hollywood.
Following his victory, Allen appeared in Step Up 3D, the Footloose remake, and even made TV cameos on shows like American Horror Story.
According to his family, Allen died on September 30, 2025, after being struck by a train. Authorities are still investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident, while his loved ones are asking for privacy as they grieve.
