Alongside the caption came a short teaser that set the tone for the project. Over moody visuals, Bailey narrates, “Once upon a time, there was a young girl that believed in love. She believed everyone belonged to someone… Was it ever possible? And here’s what happened.”
In the teaser, she stuns in a dramatic red gown, setting a cinematic mood that mirrors the emotional weight of her upcoming album.
Bailey has been laying the groundwork for a solo career since 2023, starting with “Angel,” a powerful ballad that earned her a Grammy nomination. She followed up with singles like “In Your Hands,” “Because I Love You,” “Back and Forth,” and “Braveface.” The full track list for Love? Or Something Like It hasn’t been revealed yet, leaving fans buzzing with speculation about which songs will make the cut.
The album announcement comes more than two years after her sister Chlöe released her solo debut In Pieces. While both sisters have pursued individual projects, they’ve continued to collaborate musically, including on Chlöe’s Trouble in Paradise.
From the album title to the haunting teaser, Love? Or Something Like It is shaping up to be a raw, emotional exploration of love, identity, and growth. As Bailey put it, this project “means everything” to her.
Halle Bailey’s Love? Or Something Like It will be released on Oct. 24.
