Lakers Fan Sues LeBron James Over “The Decision of All Decisions” Post

Written by on 10/12/2025

A Los Angeles Lakers fan is taking LeBron James to small claims court after feeling misled by what he believed was a retirement announcement.

“A lot of this case is about principle for me,” Andrew Garcia told ABC7 Los Angeles. On October 8, Garcia filed a claim accusing James of “fraud, deception, and misrepresentation.” Court documents show he spent more than $800 on tickets after James teased he’d reveal “the decision of all decisions” in a cryptic social media post earlier this week. Like many fans, Garcia assumed the basketball legend was about to retire.

Instead, the “big announcement” turned out to be part of a new brand partnership with Hennessy, inspired by James’ infamous 2010 announcement to leave Cleveland for Miami. The timing—just weeks before the Lakers face the Cleveland Cavaliers on October 30—only fueled speculation.

“He should have known this would happen,” Garcia said.

Garcia admitted the post made him think James was gearing up for a farewell tour, much like Kobe Bryant’s in 2015. “Right away, I thought back to when Kobe Bryant announced his farewell tour about nine or ten years ago, and I saw that as an opportunity I didn’t want to miss out on,” he explained. “He should know that fans are gonna go spend their hard-earned money thinking that this is something meaningful.”

Garcia is suing for $865.66, the amount he paid for the tickets, and emphasized he’s not seeking emotional damages—just a refund.

So far, LeBron James and his representatives have not commented on the lawsuit.
