‘RHOP’ Star Wendy Osefo Resigns from Wesleyan University After Fraud Arrest

Written by on 10/15/2025

Real Housewives of Potomac star Wendy Osefo is out of a job following her arrest on multiple fraud charges alongside her husband, Eddie Osefo. Wesleyan University confirmed that the reality star has resigned from her position as a Distinguished Visiting Professor of Sociology, just days after the news broke.

“Wendy Osefo is no longer an employee of Wesleyan University,” the school said in a statement to TMZ.

Osefo, who previously taught at Johns Hopkins University until her resignation in 2024, faces 16 charges, including seven felonies. The charges include allegations of committing fraud involving more than $300 and one misdemeanor count of making a false statement to an officer.

The Fraud Allegations

The case stems from a 2023 incident in which the Osefos reported their home had been burglarized while they were overseas. The couple claimed their master bedroom was ransacked, with luxury handbags and jewelry stolen. But investigators say court documents revealed images of Wendy wearing some of those same items after the alleged break-in, triggering a deeper probe that led to their arrest.

Fallout in the Bravo World

The scandal has reverberated through the Real Housewives universe. Andy Cohen, executive producer and host of Watch What Happens Live, addressed the arrest on October 13.

“Like all of you, I found out about the charges against Wendy and Eddie Osefo on Friday morning and there’s not much that I can say,” Cohen said. “I’m really sad about this. I’m a Wendy fan and she has been a great Housewife and a great role model.”

Wendy Osefo — a Temple University graduate with degrees from Johns Hopkins and a Ph.D. from Rutgers — joined RHOP in 2020 and quickly became a fan favorite for her sharp commentary and outspoken personality.
