R&B singer Sammie, best known for his early 2000s hits “I Like It” and “You Should Be My Girl,” was reportedly arrested on October 19 in Henry County, Georgia, on charges of domestic abuse and cruelty to children, according to The Shade Room. His bond was set at $1,050.
The 38-year-old singer, whose full name is Sammie Lee Bush Jr., was booked by the Henry County Police Department. Official records list two charges: one for battery involving domestic violence and another for cruelty to children, accusing him of exposing minors to a violent act.
It’s believed Sammie shares two children with his partner, Teanna Reid, though authorities have not released further details about the alleged incident.
Following the report, fans and friends flooded social media to defend the singer’s character. One user wrote, “Don’t always believe what you see. Smh.” Another added, “It’s Henry County… they gone charge you for breathing.”
Sammie himself responded directly to The Shade Room’s post featuring his mugshot, expressing disappointment with the outlet’s coverage.
“TSR y’all know better 💙🫶🏾. Should’ve hit me & my team first for the facts opposed for clickbait,” he wrote. “Y’all brought me back career-wise. But I see y’all pushing the agenda of negativity and that’s fine. God bless y’all 💙🫶🏾. I pray the apologies are as loud as the lies and offenses.”
So far, neither Sammie nor his representatives have issued an official statement beyond his social media comments.
