R&B star Mario is pushing back against viral rumors suggesting he doesn’t date Black women.
The conversation began after fans dissected the singer’s dating history and social media activity, sparking heated debate online. But during an interview on Cam Newton’s Funky Friday podcast, the “Let Me Love You” crooner set the record straight.
“Anything against Black women? No sir, amen — no sir, I don’t, never have,” Mario said firmly.
The Baltimore native credited his late grandmother for shaping his appreciation of Black women’s strength and spirit.
“My grandmother was my hero,” he explained. “She showed me what it means to be strong, spiritual, and unwavering. She was used and abused for her strength, but her character never broke.”
Mario went on to call out online “slander” that claims Black women aren’t loved or celebrated enough.
“There are so many Black couples thriving, doing amazing things,” he said. “They just don’t get the same attention.”
With that, Mario made it clear — his love for Black women runs deep, and always has.
