Two people were found dead Sunday afternoon at a Los Angeles residence owned by filmmaker Rob Reiner, prompting an active investigation by local authorities.

According to the Los Angeles Fire Department, crews were dispatched to the home around 3:30 p.m. on Dec. 14 to provide medical assistance. Upon arrival, first responders discovered a man and a woman deceased inside the residence. The man was approximately 78 years old, and the woman was believed to be 68. Their identities have not been publicly released.

TMZ and NBC Los Angeles confirmed the home belongs to Reiner, 78, and his wife, Michele Singer Reiner. The Los Angeles Police Department responded shortly after firefighters arrived and has opened an investigation into the deaths. No cause of death has been announced, and authorities have not indicated whether foul play is suspected.

The LAPD did not immediately respond to requests for comment, and representatives for Reiner had not issued a statement as of Sunday evening.
